ESTER is a centre for resources and exchanges, combining industry, research and training on the same site and offering the best conditions for bringing innovative projects to fruition. Established in 1991, the technopole already numbers 150 companies and 1,700 jobs. The certification of two of the Limousin region’s competitiveness clusters is confirmation of the quality of the skills developed on the site in several fields of know-how:

• ceramics, materials and surface treatments,
• biotechnologies and health
• water and environment
• electronics and telecommunications
• engineering.

Located in close proximity to the city centre, with direct access to the motorway, close to Limoges - Bellegarde Airport and Limoges-Bénédictins railway station, its dome’s futuristic form houses development tools and halls for meetings and exchange.

Avec ELOPSYS, le pôle européen de la céramique est un des deux pôles de compétitivité nationaux que compte Limoges. Communauté d’acteurs dans le monde des céramiques techniques, il vise à :

• augmenter la compétitivité de l’industrie de la céramique et du traitement de surface dérivé des céramiques,
• créer de nouvelles activités innovantes : développement de nouveaux produits dans les entreprises existantes, création de nouvelles entreprises et de nouveaux laboratoires, accueil et implantation d’unités de production ou de recherche.

Ce pôle compte :

• 80 entreprises (3000 salariés)
• 13 laboratoires et centres techniques (850 chercheurs)
• 900 étudiants.

The Elopsys Competitiveness Cluster brings together the major players in microwave, photonics and secure networks: companies of international stature such as Legrand and Thales, the XLIM laboratory and Limousin Expansion, representing 7,500 jobs. Researchers make up 40% of this workforce.
